Mission

To contribute to the education of a new Colombian society, supporting teaching, research and social projection through a high-quality bibliographic, technological, typhlo-technological and cultural resources and services for a better grasp of knowledge in different areas of education and pedagogy.

Vision

The Library, Documentation and Bibliographic Resources Subdirectorate aims to strengthen its leadership at a local, national and international level in education and pedagogy, by generating cooperation partnertships and agreements, carrying out a project to centralize the collections contained at the University’s documentation centers and by reviewing and updating everything related to the Bibliographic Information Management process.

Objetivo

Apoyar los procesos de docencia, investigación y proyección social de la comunidad universitaria UPN, facilitando recursos bibliográficos y tecnológicos en el campo de la educación y pedagogía para satisfacer sus necesidades de información y fortalecer la promoción cultural y bibliotecaria.

Scope

The Ethics and Values Primer is a guide for all public officers of the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional.

Principles of Institutional Ethics

Aware of the social responsibility as a public officer in the construction of an Ethics Culture, and as a result of a joint activity, the following values are defined by the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional along with representatives of the entire community:

Life

Each UPN member will prioritize and act as much as possible in order to preserve his/her own live and lives of others.

Coexistence

Each UPN member will act and maintain the desire to interact with others in a harmonious and respectful manner. Always projecting a positive image of his/her colleagues in the institution to contribute to the organizational culture in the development of internal control and self-control.

Job

It’s the ability through which UPN workers must fulfill our social and institutional commitments within the standards of quality, economy and excellence, showing professionalism, commitment, discipline, care and timeliness to dignify public task and improve the quality of our services.

Justice and Fairness

Each UPN member will strive to provide fair attitudes and treatment to others, and will ensure that each person receives what is due.

Equality

Each UPN member shall be willing to be and perceive others with equal rights and responsibilities, avoiding any discrimination or unjustified privileges for certain individuals or groups.

Knowledge

Each UPN member will be willing to broaden and deepen his or her knowledge and place it at the service of the institution and society.

Freedom

Each UPN member is empowered to make decisions within the institutional and social values, principles and rules, and is responsible for what he or she has done.

Peace

Each UPN member will always be willing to act without moral or physical violence toward others and will favor the dialogical resolution of conflicts, respecting the diversity of ideas and opinions.

Human dignity

Each UPN member will recognize and respect the feelings, differences, and uniqueness of every human being.

Solidarity

Each UPN member will cooperate by assisting others, especially in difficult circumstances, as long as ethical and legal.

Ethnic and Cultural Diversity

Each UPN member will respect every human being without distinction of birthplace, race, gender, or creed.

Transparency

Each UPN member must always act with clarity, honesty, dignity, and decency. He/she must always allow others to see his/her actions so that he/she does not raise doubts about his/her righteousness, and he/she must allow his/her actions to strengthen institutional confidence in his/her integrity.
